Current Opening:

Woodruff Construction is looking for an Assistant Controller to join the team. The Assistant Controller handles financial reporting for the organization, manages cash flow and provides accurate forecasting to assist in determining future capacity of work. They also reconcile, process and post owner billings and payments. Also, manage A/R balances to ensure outstanding balances are being followed up on.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities - Accountabilities

Capacity/Forecasting

  • Prepare multiyear rolling budgets
  • Stay up to date on project and overall company forecasting
  • Responsible for job cost data including entering budgets, man-hours and reviewing budget updates
  • Ensure that project information is reviewed and documented on a consistent basis
  • Communicate backlog and costs to complete to Chief Financial Officer

Cash Flow and Banking

  • Prepares deposits and reconciles bank statements
  • Contribute to swift and smooth project closeouts by updating and working with project managers

Accounts Receivable

  • Enter owner billings
  • Reconcile and properly applying payments from owners
  • Notify A/P and PM’s and updating cash flow worksheet when payments are received
  • Review A/R listing and following up on old payments
  • Notify Regional Presidents weekly of A/R over 60 days and updating scorecard
  • Works with project managers to ensure timely receipt of payments

Financial Statements and Company Taxes/Audit

  • Prepares timely internal month end financial statements
  • Responsible for preparing all information for year-end audits

Required Experience:

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • High School diploma required or equiv.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
  • 3-5 years of accounting experience required.
  • Thorough knowledge of general accounting including skills knowledge plus the application of general accounting theory.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel.
  • Able to handle critical and confidential information.
  • Requires broad conceptual judgment, initiative and ability to deal with complex accounting issues.
  • Good time management skills.
  • Must be detail oriented.
  • Work well in a team environment.
