Job Description:
The Heavy Equipment Operator’s primary responsibility is to operate various types of power construction equipment, such as excavators, loaders, and other large equipment to erect structures, excavate, move and grade earth, or pour concrete or other hard surface pavement. Position may be required to repair and maintain equipment. Additionally, the Heavy Equipment Operator performs hands-on construction-laborer work in the field on a semi-regular basis.
Summary of Duties
- Read and obey safety rules and regulations.
- Operate construction equipment under general supervision.
- Inspect equipment for safety issues daily.
- Determine if any parts are malfunctioning.
- Complete paperwork as needed such as excavation permits, lift plans, maintenance logs, etc.
- Lift, position, and place machinery, equipment, or other large objects at construction sites and industrial facilities.
- Coordinate machine actions with other activities, positioning or moving loads in response to hand or audio signals from crew members.
- Actively participate in daily routines, such as meetings, planning, safety observations, training, etc.
- When not operating equipment, perform building and construction work which includes, but is not limited to concrete walls, foundations, and slabs; structural steel and metal erection; interior and exterior process pipe installation; and general carpentry and finishes.

Required Experience:
- Experience working on an active construction jobsite
- Experience operating heavy equipment such as excavators and loaders
- Proven commitment to contributing to a culture of safety; looking out for yourself and others
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED
- Lattice Boom Crane Certification preferred, but not required
- Swing Cab Hydraulic Certification preferred, but not required
Required Travel:
Some overnight travel may be expected.
