Job Description for Project ManagerEmployer Information:Organization Name: Carl A. Nelson & Company Job Department: Project Manager Reports to: Vice President Operations Job Location: Burlington, Cedar Falls, or Washington IA Office FLSA Status: ExemptPrincipal Objective of Position:Plan, direct, and coordinate, usually through superintendents or field engineers, activities concerned with the construction project. Participate in the conceptual development of a construction project and oversee its organization, scheduling and implementation.Job Functions:• Work with superintendents or other project leaders in the field to plan, organize and direct activities concerned with construction projects• Establish project objectives, policies, procedures and performance standards within boundaries of company policy and contract specifications. Confer with field supervision to discuss such matters as work procedures, complaints and construction problems• Initiate and maintain liaison with owners and other contacts to facilitate project activities• Provide a high level of customer service• Monitor and control project through administrative direction of on-site supervision to ensure project is completed on schedule and within budget.• Investigate potentially serious situations and implement corrective measures.• Represent the Company in project meetings and attend strategy meetings• Work with contract administrator to manage financial aspects of contracts to protect company’s interest and simultaneously maintain good relationships with the customer• Requisition supplies and materials to complete the project• Interpret and explain plans and contract terms to administrative staff, workers and clients• Formulate reports concerning such areas as work progress, cost and scheduling• Work with General Superintendent to assign workers to construction sites to work on specified projects• Assist with training and development of Field EngineersOther Functions:• Provide estimating functions• Assist with business development and marketing• Attend social and networking events as applicable• May be asked to perform other duties as required by business needsEducation:▪ Bachelor degree with a major in Construction Engineering, Industrial Technology, Construction Management or similar field▪ OSHA 30 Hour Construction Standards Outreach ProgramExperience:Five years of related experience, preferably with industrial and/or health care construction. Prior experience with Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate, Sage Estimating and TimberScan software is preferred.Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:This is a full-time position. Standard hours of work are Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., minimum of 40 hours per week. Hours of Work may fluctuate depending on the needs of the projects.Travel:Travel to job sites may be required.
