The Weitz Company is currently accepting applications for a Human Resources Intern to be located out of our Des Moines, IA office. The Human Resources Intern will directly assist the Human Resources Team with a wide range of projects related to HR compliance, recruiting, onboarding, orientation, and miscellaneous administrative tasks.  

What You'll Do: 

  • Maintains high standards of confidentiality of all employee records and information
  • Coordinates the scheduling of interviews with job candidates
  • Assists in the handling and support of new hire onboarding
  • Assists with the Internship Program administration
  • Partners with HR management on special projects and programs
  • Files documents electronically into appropriate employee files
  • Generates a variety of reports and memos for distribution
  • Maintains and audits employee updates in HRIS   
  • Other duties as assigned

What We're Looking For: 

  • Education: High school diploma required; Current or recent enrollment in a degree program in Human Resource, Business Administration, Psychology, or related field required.
  • Experience: At least two years of experience in a general business and professional setting; previous human resources experience is helpful but not required.
  • Skills: Ability to prioritize tasks and handle numerous assignments simultaneously. Candidate must possess time management, organization, business writing, verbal and written communication, and multi-tasking skills.
  • Technology: Proficiency in basic computer software programs such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook preferred.
